This workshop proposes to invite the advisory committee of the Developing Humanitarian Medicine (DHM) project and Humanitarian Archive for a series of papers and roundtable discussions. In line with our project and our first draft articles we would like to focus our workshop on materiality, the objects and tools of humanitarian work, humanitarian vital mobility and how the records of these transactions and exchanges have been encoded in archives and shaped by notions of power.
We will also discuss the work of the Humanitarian Archive, which has built up a collection of small archives relating to humanitarian work carried out in the 20th century. We will discuss the future plans for the expansion of the archive and the progress of the digital archives toolkit, which aims to help humanitarians at all levels in preserving their own digital archives.
